Artist Collective Present Winter Solstice Celebration

  Santa Fe, November 19/ - - We Are the Ones We’ve Been Waiting for Productions of Santa Fe - a collective of musicians, actors, poets, dancers, visual artists and spiritual leaders - exists to help the human race become aware of the true path of life. The collective is proud to announce its Winter Solstice Celebration at The 1228 Parkway Art Space in Santa Fe on December 20, 21 and 22.
 
The multi-genre arts event and ceremony includes sacred dance, music, poetry, visual art and theatre.  Ceremony will be lead by noted educator and ceremonial leader John Kimmey.  John was designated by the now deceased Hopi leader and prophecy carrier Grandfather David Monongye to continue to deliver his message. The We Are the Ones We’ve Been Waiting For performance piece is a work-in-progress scheduled to be performed at the Bowery Poets Café in New York City on May 1, 2008 . Rich Texture - an activist, producer, poet, and performer for over twenty years – is the producer. 


International touring artists Sandra Hughes and Michael Hickey will perform mask theatre choreographed and directed by Sandra in hand-carved wooden masks created by Michael. Their original theatre works have been performed at theatres, festivals, art centers, museums and other community venues in 30 states in the U.S. and 12 other countries. Productions for television have showcased at the American Film Institute Video Festival in Los Angeles and received national distribution on Public Television. Sandra and Michael are founders of Gateway Performance Productions and The MASK Center in Atlanta .
 
Musical Director Amon Re - known as the “Producer Dinosaur” of the music industry - has studied under some of the greats of the music world such as Freddie Blood, Gene Krupa, Max Roach, and Joe Morello. Amon also studied composition and arrangement at Berklee College in Boston , Massachusetts . He will work with some great local musicians including Wedan DePensai, one of the world’s most beloved cellists.
 
The poetry of poet/musician Robert Poorman is featured along with excerpts from plays written by Robert and Bill Barrett. Bill has been an artist, writer, singer- songwriter, publisher and photographer for over 30 years. Artist/Actor James Koskinas will create art on site during the event and act in the performance piece.  James has worked with prestigious acting troupes in the West - with Stanislavsky Acting Co. and with Sandra Starr of the Guthrie Theatre Company of NYCity.  
 
Others participating include: dance and music by Audio Buddha featuring Ishtar “… who cultivated her voice in the halls of the New England Conservatory of Music”, special guests include other local musicians, poets, and dancers, and the Accommodation Party.
 Ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. A donation of $10-$25 is requested for the Ceremony-Performance with a portion of the proceeds to benefit The Santa Fe Vet Center.
