Mother Road Theatre Company Announces Free Prebut Event & New Location Along Historic Route 66

 Albuquerque, N.M. Mother Road Theatre Company, Albuquerque’s dynamic, new professional theatre company, announces the launch of its first annual fundraising PREBUT (pronounced pree-byoo), an evening of scenes from a list of compelling and diverse plays, three of which will be included in their first season at their new home, The Filling Station, 1024 4th St. SW on historic pre-1937 Route 66. PREBUT takes place November 30, December 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, Fridays & Saturdays 8 p.m., Sundays 2 p.m. The event is free, with a suggested donation of $15.
In anticipation of its 2008 DEBUT season, themed The Open Road, Mother Road Theatre Company wants Albuquerque audiences to vote on their favorite scene and that play will become Mother Road ’s DEBUT production in early 2008! Included in the PREBUT will be such acclaimed plays as:
         The Weir, by Conor McPherson
         Fair Maid of the West, by Thomas Heywood, adapted by James C. Leary & Damasco Rodriguez
         Angels Fall, by Lanford Wilson
         Hellcab, by Will Kern
         The Odyssey, by David Farr
         On The Verge, by Eric Overmyer
Prepare yourself for an evening of chicks with swords, Irish ghost stories, a rookie cabbie’s adventure in Chicago , the exploits of time-traveling women, a couple literally trapped in “The Land of Entrapment,” and Odysseus vs. immigration!!!
The PREBUT will be directed by Mother Road company members Julia Thudium, Vic Browder and David Sinkus, and include the acting talents of Kristín De La O, Michael Dolce, Chris Gillooly, Catherine Haun, Miguel Martinez, Scott Sharot , Danielle Louise Reddick, and Tom Schuch .
Mother Road Theatre Company comprises a core of six highly trained, critically acclaimed and supremely motivated individuals: Julia Thudium, Vic Browder, Kristin De la O, Michael Dolce, David Sinkus and Tom Schuch . The company shares years of experience in all aspects of theatrical production, successful entrepreneurial enterprises and business management. Mother Road is hitting the ground running, thrilled to be a new artistic presence on the Albuquerque theatre scene.
Mother Road ’s educational outreach component for children has already begun, with the completion of its first pilot program - Storytelling to Playwriting - at Van Buren Middle School. It was so successful that Mother Road will be bringing its Producing Partners program to Van Buren next year, with their teaching artists helping to team teach a whole unit of study. The adult education program developed by the company had its first workshop this spring.
Mother Road also announces its excitement at welcoming Academy Award winner Alan Arkin and actor Gary Farmer to its Artistic Advisory Council. Appearing in over 70 films and numerous plays both on Broadway and off, Arkin’s illustrious 40-year career includes winning the 2007 Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Grandpa in Little Miss Sunshine. Gary Farmer is a member of the Cayuga nation within the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy. As an actor, Farmer has appeared in the acclaimed films Dead Man, Powwow Highway and Smoke Signals and has numerous additional credits as a director, producer and journalist for more than twenty years.
