The VSA North Fourth Art Center is actively recruiting performance artists for community development and outreach programs. Each year North Fourth recruits a diverse team of AmeriCorps Members with and without disabilities interested in making a difference in their community. Spend a year planning, organizing and teaching classes for people of all ages and abilities at North Fourth and conducting outreach activities. Performing arts positions involve some performance work. Receive a stipend, health benefits, earn an education award and have one of the most unique artistic experiences available in Albuquerque.

• Full-time (35 hrs/wk), half-time (18 hrs/wk) and part-time (6 hrs/wk) positions available.

• All positions begin September 1, 2005 and run through August 2006.

All VSA AmeriCorps members participate in training and service activities promoting volunteerism and learning about citizenship, health & safety, and disaster preparedness. Access for artists and audience members of all abilities is a focus of VSA arts. Training in supporting people with disabilities is provided.

The stipend for full-time positions (35 hrs/week) is $12,000. Individual health coverage provided. Part-time positions do not include health insurance, but do include a pro-rated stipend. All members are eligible to place student loans in forbearance during the term of service. All members are eligible for an education award at the completion of their term of service. The full-time education award is $4,725, half and part-time member awards are pro-rated. Qualifying members are also eligible for child-care benefits.
